Don’t you just love those little social indicators displaying how many times a page has been shared? You know, the ones on most every blog post you visit nowadays. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, scroll down to the end of this article and look at the indicator for Facebook likes.
You can even test it out by clicking the “like” button and refreshing the page. It should increment the count by one.
Pretty sneaky way to get you to like my page eh?
If you are a WordPress user, plugins such as Sharethis, Sharebar or Shareaholic make it easy to see the number of times the page has been shared, but what if you don’t use a social plugin? Or maybe you are just curious to see how many times a large site like Amazon has been shared on Facebook.
It’s pretty simple. Check out the video.
Just copy and paste the URL below to your address bar and replace [YOUR-URL-HERE] with the URL of any page you would like to check the count on. Be sure to include “http://” without the quotes of course.
If you are checking a page that uses the Facebook Comments Box or similar plugins, you will also receive a count of the number of comments on the page. Pretty cool huh?

Don’t worry all you Twitterers, Pinners and Google Plusers. There is a way to check the URL share count on other social platforms as well.
In the same fashion as above, copy the URL’s below, paste them into your browser bar and add your desired URL.
For Twitter:
For Google Plus:
For Pinterest:
For Linkedin:
Give these a try and have some fun with them. What are the highest share counts on your websites?
